This former Bruins forward is struggling with his new team.
Danton Heinen was one of the several players the Boston Bruins lost this past off-season. The Langley, British Columbia native agreed to a two-year, $4.5 million contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
After landing a contract with the Bruins through a successful professional tryout (PTO) last season, Heinen put together a strong campaign. In 74 games, the 29-year-old winger had 17 goals, 36 points, and a plus-16 rating. Overall, he proved to be an excellent bargain signing for the Bruins.
However, Heinen is in the middle of a big cold streak with the Canucks right now. The 2014 fourth-round pick has not recorded a point in eight straight games. He also has a minus-2 rating over that span.
Given Heinen's skill, he has the potential to bounce back and provide the Canucks with solid secondary scoring like he did in Boston. However, things are not going his way right now, and we will need to wait and see if he can heat back up shortly.
Heinen has three goals, seven assists, and a plus-3 rating in 25 games with the Canucks so far this season.
