After not finding an NHL home in free agency, former Boston Bruins forward Curtis Lazar is heading overseas.
Lausanne HC of Switzerland's National League has announced that they have signed Lazar to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season.
Lazar heading overseas comes after he spent the 2025-26 season with the Edmonton Oilers. In 45 games last season for Edmonton, the former Bruins forward posted four goals, two assists, six points, 95 hits, and a 61.2 faceoff winning percentage.
Given Lazar's strong two-way play and grit, it seemed possible that he could get another opportunity with another NHL team. However, he will instead be playing overseas in Switzerland this campaign with this latest news.
Lazar was acquired by the Bruins along with Taylor Hall from the Buffalo Sabres back during the 2020-21 season. In 87 games over two seasons with the Bruins, he posted 10 goals, 10 assists, 20 points, and 221 hits.
Lazar's time with the Bruins ended during the 2022 NHL off-season, as he signed with the Vancouver Canucks in free agency. He also had stints with the New Jersey Devils and Oilers following his time as a Bruin.
