This is definitely not how the former Bruins goalie hoped his season debut would go.

Former Boston Bruins goalie Dan Vladar had an opening night to forget with the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.

Vladar allowed seven goals on 38 shots in the Flyers' 7-0 season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

This is certainly not how the former Bruins netminder wanted to start his 2026-27 campaign. Now, he will be aiming to bounce back after his ugly start as the season rolls on.

It is important to note that Vladar exited the Flyers' pre-season matchup against the Bruins last Tuesday due to injury. With that, this rough performance against the Penguins from Vladar could very well have been due to him being rusty.

When looking at the season Vladar had in 2025-26 with the Flyers, there is clear reason to believe that he can turn things back around for Philadelphia this campaign. In 52 games last season for the Flyers, he posted a 29-14-7 record, a 2.42 goals-against average, and a .906 save percentage. With numbers like these, he was a major reason why Philadelphia made the playoffs last spring.

Vladar was selected by the Bruins in the third round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, 75th overall. In five regular-season games for Boston during the 2020-21 season, he had a 2-2-1 record, an .886 save percentage, and a 3.40 goals-against average. He also made one playoff appearance for Boston in 2020.
