This former Bruins goalie is having a career year with his new team.
During this past offseason, former Boston Bruins goaltender Dan Vladar signed a two-year, $6.7 million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers. This was after the 28-year-old goaltender had a 12-11-6 record, a .898 save percentage, and a 2.80 goals-against average in 30 games last season with the Calgary Flames.
Overall, Vladar was a solid backup during his time with the Flames. However, with the Flyers this season, the former Bruins goalie has been simply shining.
Vladar has cemented himself as the Flyers' starting goalie this season due to his excellent play. In 45 games so far this season with Philadelphia, he has a 24-12-7 record, a .907 save percentage, and a 2.44 goals-against average. With this, he is having the best season of his six-year NHL career.
Vladar is only staying hot for the Flyers during the final stretch of the season, too. He has had a .913 save percentage or better in five out of his last six appearances. With this, he has played a big role in the Flyers still being in the playoff race at this juncture of the season.
Sometimes, a change of scenery can benefit a player, and that has certainly been the case for Vladar this season with the Flyers.
Vladar was selected by the Bruins with the 75th overall pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In five games for the Bruins during the 2020-21 season, he had a 2-2-1 record, a .886 save percentage, and a 3.40 goals-against average.
