Former Boston Bruins defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk has announced his retirement from professional hockey.

Shattenkirk spent his final season in the NHL with the Bruins in 2023-24. In 61 games with the Original Six club, he had six goals, 24 points, and a minus-2 rating. Overall, the New Rochelle, New York native was a solid depth defender for the Bruins who provided solid offense from the point.

After his lone season as a Bruin, Shattenkirk hit the free-agent market this past summer. While he generated interest, he did not find the right fit for himself in free agency. Thus, he is now hanging up the skates because of it.

In 952 career games split between the Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Anaheim Ducks, and Bruins, he had 103 goals, 381 assists, and 484 points.
