This former Bruins defenseman is joining the Sabres' front office.
A former Boston Bruins defenseman has landed a new gig with the Buffalo Sabres.
The Sabres have announced that they have hired former Bruins defenseman David Warsofsky as a defense development coach.
Warsofsky joining the Sabres' organization comes after he was head coach of the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL last season. He was also previously a special advisor for the Stingrays during the 2024-25 season before being promoted as their head coach the following year.
Now, Warsofsky has taken another big step forward in his coaching career. This is the former Bruins defenseman's first coaching position with an NHL team, and he will be looking to make an impact with the Sabres' defensemen from here.
Warsofsky's brother, Ryan Warsofsky, is currently the head coach of the San Jose Sharks.
Warsofsky was acquired by the Bruins from the St. Louis Blues during the 2010 NHL off-season. After finishing his junior season with Boston University in 2010-11, the Marshfield, Massachusetts native signed his entry-level contract with the Bruins.
Following this, Warsofsky played his first two NHL seasons with the Bruins in 2013-14 and 2014-15. In 10 games with the Black and Gold over that span, he posted one goal, three points, and a plus-2 rating.
Warsofsky spent the bulk of his time with the Bruins organization down in the AHL. In five seasons with the Providence Bruins from 2010-11 to 2014-15, he posted 18 goals and 95 points in 230 games.
