Former Boston Bruins forward Ryan Donato has been rewarded for his excellent 2024-25 season.

The Chicago Blackhawks have announced that they have signed Donato to a four-year, $16 million contract extension. Starting next season, the former Bruins forward will carry a $4 million cap hit.

Seeing the Blackhawks keep Donato around is not surprising in the slightest. The Massachusetts native has been a great fit on their roster since his arrival and is coming off a monster season with the Original Six club. In 80 games with the Blackhawks this campaign, he set new career highs with 31 goals, 31 assists, and 62 points.

After signing his new four-year extension, Donato will continue to be a key forward for the Blackhawks as they look to take that next step in their rebuild.

With the Bruins needing help on offense, Donato could have been a nice player for them to reunite with if he had hit the free-agent market on July 1. However, that thought can now be forgotten with Donato signing this new deal with Chicago.
