This former Bruins forward has been placed on waivers.

A former Boston Bruins forward has officially hit the waiver wire.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, former Bruins forward Danton Heinen has been placed on waivers by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Heinen hitting waivers comes with him in the middle of a tough start to the 2026-27 season. In 10 games this season with the Blue Jackets, he has yet to record a point and a has a minus-2 rating. Now, he is available for the taking on waivers with this roster move by Columbus.

Teams looking for more forward depth and experience could consider taking a chance on Heinen. Yet, given his slow start to the season, it would not be particularly surprising if he ended up clearing waivers.

Heinen re-signed with the Blue Jackets this off-season on a one-year, two-way contract. This was after he posted six goals and 12 points in 46 games split between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Blue Jackets last season.

Heinen was selected by the Bruins in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, 114th overall. He had two stints with the Original Six club, as he played for them from 2016-17 to 2019-20 and then in 2023-24.

In 294 games in five seasons as a Bruin, Heinen recorded 51 goals, 88 assists, 139 points, and a plus-39 rating. This included him recording a career-high 47 points in 77 games for Boston in 2017-18.
