This former Bruins forward stepped up in a big for the Flyers.
The Philadelphia Flyers picked up a big 3-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night. With it, the Flyers now have a commanding 2-0 series lead as they head back to Philadelphia for Games 3 and 4.
A former Boston Bruins forward was one of the surprise heroes for the Flyers in Game 2, as he stepped up for them offensively: Garnet Hathaway.
Hathaway is not known for his offense, but the gritty forward scored a big goal for the Flyers at the 17:43 mark of the second period to give them a 2-0 lead over Pittsburgh. He then recorded an assist on Luke Glendening's third-period goal to help secure the Flyers' victory.
Hathaway's strong offensive performance was certainly a nice surprise for Philadelphia. The 34-year-old forward had just one goal and two assists in 66 regular-season games for the Flyers this campaign. Now, the former Bruin has put together a multi-point playoff game for the Flyers at an excellent time.
Hathaway and the Flyers will now be looking to continue to stay hot and pick up a win in Game 3 against the Penguins from here.
In 25 regular-season for the Bruins during the 2022-23 season after being acquired from the Washington Capitals, Hathaway had four goals and six points. He also had one assist in seven playoff games for Boston that year.
