Tyler Seguin's solid bounce-back season has come to an end.
Another former Boston Bruins forward's season is over.
The Dallas Stars lost to the Edmonton Oilers by a 2-1 final score in Game 6 on Sunday. With it, the Stars have been eliminated from the playoffs, and the Oilers will face the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup.
Unfortunately, with the Stars' season over, Tyler Seguin's push for his second-career Stanley Cup has come to an end. This is a tough development for the Stars, as they certainly had the potential to win the Stanley Cup. However, the Oilers were simply too much.
Seguin, 32, was an impactful part of the Stars' roster during their playoff run. The 2010 second-overall pick provided solid offense for the Central Division club, posting five goals, 13 points, and a plus-9 rating in 19 games. This was after he had a nice bounce-back regular season for the Stars, recording 25 goals and 52 points - his most since 2019-20 - in 68 games.
While the Stars fell in the playoffs again this year, they should still be significant threats in 2024-25. They have a great core that is mixed with veterans and youngsters. In addition, promising players like Wyatt Johnston, Logan Stankoven, and Mavrik Bourque should only get better from here.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how Seguin and the Stars perform in 2024-25 from here.
