This Hall extension comes just hours after the Hurricanes knocked out the New Jersey Devils in the first round of the playoffs. Hall contributed to the Hurricanes' series win, as he scored a goal and recorded three points in five contests. Now, he will look to stay hot this post-season after signing this nice multi-year extension from here.
Hall has emerged as a solid piece of the Hurricanes' top six and power play since being acquired by them from the Chicago Blackhawks earlier this season. They were hoping Hall would provide them with more secondary offensive production, and he has done just that. In 31 games this regular-season with the Hurricanes following the trade, he posted 18 points.
The Bruins certainly know that Hall is capable of providing good offense when playing at his best. During his three-year stint as a Bruin from 2020-21 to 2022-23, Hall recorded 44 goals, 67 assists, 111 points, and a plus-37 rating in 158 games. This includes the veteran forward posting 20 goals and 61 points in 81 games for Boston in 2021-22.
Hall's time with the Bruins ended when he and Nick Foligno were traded to the Blackhawks during the 2023 NHL off-season in exchange for defensemen Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula. This was purely a cap dump trade for the Bruins, as they were in a very tough financial position.
With the Bruins needing more offense, Hall could have been a great player for them to try to reunite with this off-season. However, that possibility can now be forgotten that he has signed this three-year extension with the Hurricanes.
