Former Bruins top prospect Fabian Lysell has landed his new contract with the Avalanche.
Earlier this off-season, the Boston Bruins traded former first-round pick Fabian Lysell to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for forward Ivan Ivan. It was not too surprising to see Lysell get traded, as he struggled to make the jump to Boston's roster.
Now, after being traded to the Avalanche, Lysell has landed his next contract.
The Avalanche have announced that they have signed Lysell to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season.
Lysell will now be looking to take that next step with the Avalanche after landing this one-year contract. While he was never able to do so with the Bruins, perhaps things could change on that front now with Colorado, now that he has gotten a much-needed fresh start.
Lysell played in just 12 NHL games during his time with the Bruins, which were all during the 2024-25 season. In them, he posted one goal, three points, and a minus-4 rating. He did not make a single appearance for Boston last season.
In 57 games last season for the Providence Bruins, Lysell recorded 17 goals, 25 assists, and 42 points. This was after he posted 11 goals and 34 points in 52 games with the AHL club during the 2024-25 campaign.
It will now be interesting to see if Lysell can get his development back on track with the Avalanche. The Bruins certainly wished they could have gotten more from him after they selected him with the 21st overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
