This former Bruins forward is on the move.
During this past off-season, Danton Heinen left the Boston Bruins by signing a two-year, $4.5 million contract with the Vancouver Canucks in free agency. Now, he is already back on the move.
The Canucks traded Heinen, Vincent Desharnais, Melvin Fernstrom, and a conditional 2025 first-round pick to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Connor.
Heinen had been creating chatter as a potential trade candidate, as he struggled to find his fit with the Canucks. In 51 games this campaign with the Pacific club, he had six goals, 12 assists, and a minus-1 rating.
Danton HeinenHeinen is no stranger to the Penguins, as he spent the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons with them. In 141 games as a Penguin over that span, he had 26 goals, 55 points, and a plus-1 rating.
Heinen will now look to get things back on track with the Penguins from here. He showed last season with the Bruins that he can provide solid secondary, posting 17 goals, 36 points, and a plus-16 rating in 74 games.
