The Boston Bruins made a significant move earlier this season when they fired former head coach Jim Montgomery and replaced him with Joe Sacco.
Following the coaching change, the Bruins performed well, but now they are back to struggling immensely. The Original Six club has lost six straight games and now has a 20-19-5 record. They also have fallen behind the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Atlantic Division standings and have played five more games than the Bolts.

In a recent episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman brought up the possibility of the Bruins making another coaching change if they find someone they view as a long-term fit.
"I think Boston is kind of in shock about where they are," Friedman said. "I think they knew that they maybe weren't as great as they were the last few years, but they thought with Lindholm and Zadorov, they would have plugged those holes, and they would have been better. And they're not."
Friedman also added:
"And now I think they're kind of regrouping and thinking, 'Do we have to take a bigger picture look at this, and what does that mean?' And if there is someone who they're thinking about maybe being a full-time coach. A. if it's not Sacco and B. if it's someone who's available, does Boston all of a sudden look and say, 'If we're going to commit to this person, do we try to go for them now?'"

Friedman's thought is certainly interesting, especially given that Sacco still has the interim label in his job description. If the Bruins can't get things back on track, it could be something to pay attention to.
Since taking over as the Bruins' interim head coach, Sacco has a 12-10-2 record in 24 games.
