One of the best coaches in Boston Bruins history is back in the NHL.
The St. Louis Blues announced on Wednesday that they have hired Claude Julien as an assistant coach.
The Blues have certainly added a coach with plenty of experience, as Julien has over 20 years of coaching experience. In addition, he has been a head coach in the NHL for 19 seasons, having stints with the Montreal Canadiens (two), New Jersey Devils, and, of course, the Bruins. With Boston, Julien had his most success and cemented himself as one of their most legendary bench bosses.
Julien, 64, is the Bruins' all-time winningest coach in both regular-season wins (419) and playoff wins (57). In addition, he won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's best coach in 2009 and led the Bruins to their 2011 Stanley Cup championship. Overall, it was a memorable 10-year stint in Boston, and he will look to carry over his experience to a retooling team in the Blues.

Julien has not coached in the NHL since being fired from his second stint as the Canadiens' head coach during the 2020-21 season. Now, after over three years, he is getting the opportunity to resume his NHL career.
It will be intriguing to see how much of an impact Julien can make while with the Blues from here.
