This new Bruins forward is off to an excellent start in Providence.

At the 2026 NHL trade deadline, the Boston Bruins acquired forward Lukas Reichel from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. With this move, the Bruins are taking a chance on a former first-round pick who is still looking to break out.

Following bringing in Reichel, the Bruins assigned him to their AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins. So far, it is fair to say that the new Bruins forward is off to an excellent start with the AHL club.

In three games since joining Providence, Reichel has recorded one goal and five points. This included recording the overtime-winning goal and an assist in his Providence debut on March 11 against the Springfield Thunderbirds, and then having a three-assist game against the Hartford Wolf Pack on March 14.

Seeing Reichel have such a good start with Providence is encouraging. If he keeps this kind of play up for Providence, perhaps he could get a chance on Boston's roster before the season is over. At 23 years old, there is still a chance that he could take another step forward with his development.

In 26 AHL games this season split between the Abbotsford Canucks and Providence, Reichel has seven goals and 18 points. He has also played in 19 NHL games this season, split between the Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver, where he has two goals and five points.
