The Bruins have some contract extension candidates to keep an eye on.

The Boston Bruins recently signed forward Marat Khusnutdinov to a three-year, $3.95 million AAV contract extension.

Khusnutdinov certainly earned this extension, as he has become an important part of Boston's roster.

Now, with the Bruins locking up Khusnutdinov, let's look at three more Bruins who could sign contract extensions next.

Pavel Zacha

Pavel Zacha is one of the biggest names creating chatter as a trade candidate right now. While questions about Zacha's future in Boston are coming up, the possibility of the Bruins signing him to a contract extension should not be ruled out.

Zacha is a very important part of the Bruins' forward group. Thus, management will likely continue to try to keep him around beyond this season.

In 11 games this season, Zacha has two goals and seven points. This is after he had 30 goals and 65 points in 78 games last season.

Mason Lohrei

Could Mason Lohrei be playing his way to a contract extension? It certainly seems possible with how he has performed early on this season.

Lohrei is showing clear signs of improvement this season with the Bruins. In 12 games this campaign for Boston, the 6-foot-5 blueliner has recorded two goals, five points, and a plus-6 rating. If he can keep this kind of play up, maybe it could be enough for him to stick around in Boston.

Michael DiPietro

Michael DiPietro has been a great story early on this season for the Bruins. In three games so far this campaign for Boston, he has a 2-1-0 record, a .941 save percentage, and a 1.69 goals-against average. He also had a 28-save shutout in his most recent start against the Nashville Predators.

Yes, the sample size is small, but the possibility of the Bruins looking to lock up DiPietro soon should not be ignored. The back-to-back AHL goalie of the year has been great for Boston so far this season, and he could be someone they want to keep around if he keeps this kind of play up.
