The Boston Bruins currently have the seventh-overall pick at the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. Barring any sudden changes, this will be the earliest the Bruins have selected in the draft in several years. With the Bruins' prospect pool being among the worst in the NHL, they will be looking to hit with this pick.
It is no secret that this draft class is a wild card after the few two picks. Due to this, there have been plenty of questions about who the Bruins could end up selecting with the seventh-overall pick. Based on a recent report, the Bruins are weighing several options.
According to The Athletic's Scott Wheeler, the Bruins are interested in prospects Brady Martin, Jake O'Brien, and James Hagens. Wheeler noted that the Philadelphia Flyers are also interested in this trio, which is significant when noting that the Flyers hold the sixth-overall pick.
Martin is certainly an intriguing prospect, so it makes sense that he is on the Bruins' radar. The 6-foot center is not only a skilled player but also plays with an edge and is not afraid of the physical side of the game. Thus, he could be a good fit on a Bruins club that has a history of valuing hard-nosed players. In 57 games this season with the Soo Greyhounds, he recorded 33 goals, 72 points, and a plus-25 rating.
O'Brien is another exciting center who would be an awesome player for the Bruins to add to their prospect pool. The 6-foot-2 forward is a talented playmaker who just had a monster season with the Brantford Bulldogs of the OHL. In 66 games this campaign, he recorded 32 goals, 66 assists, and 98 points. He also had three goals and 11 points in 11 playoff games this year for the OHL squad.
Hagens is also viewed as one of this year's top prospects available, so he would be a big-time pickup for Boston if he is available once the Bruins are on the clock. The New York native just completed his first NCAA season with Boston College in 2024-25, where he posted 11 goals, 37 points, and a plus-21 rating.
NHL Trade Rumors: Bruins Linked To Flames Star
One clear area that the Boston Bruins should aim to improve this off-season is the right side of their defense. After trading Brandon Carlo at the 2025 NHL trade deadline to the Toronto Maple Leafs, they need a proven top-four, right-shot defenseman to replace him.
