The Bruins have multiple options to consider for their first-line center need.

The Boston Bruins' biggest need heading into the 2026 NHL Off-Season is to finally bring in a legitimate first-line center. While the free-agent market options this year are very weak when it comes to centers, the trade market has some significant names on it right now.

Because of this, let's take a look at three star centers the Bruins should strongly consider targeting during this off-season.

Dylan Larkin, Detroit Red Wings

With Dylan Larkin requesting a trade from the Detroit Red Wings, there is no question that the Bruins need to kick tires on him. The 29-year-old's $8.7 million cap hit until the end of the 2030-31 season is a steal for all that he provides, and he would easily become Boston's best center if acquired. In 74 games this season with the Red Wings, he had 34 goals, 33 assists, and 67 points.

Mathew Barzal, New York Islanders

Could Bruins GM Don Sweeney make up for his infamous 2015 NHL Entry Draft by acquiring Mathew Barzal from the New York Islanders? It is something that he should consider, as the 29-year-old would give the Bruins an elite playmaker for their 1C spot. He would have the potential to make some real magic on a line with David Pastrnak. In 81 games this season, Barzal had 19 goals and 72 points.

Robert Thomas, St. Louis Blues

St. Louis Blues forward Robert Thomas is another star center in the rumor mill that the Bruins should have on their radar this summer. The 26-year-old center is right in his prime and has an $8.125 million cap hit until the end of the 2030-31 campaign. With this, he would give the Bruins a long-term answer for their first-line center spot if brought in. In 64 games this season with the Blues, Thomas had 25 goals and 64 points.
