It has been a busy summer for the Boston Bruins. They have made some important moves, like re-signing Morgan Geekie, Mason Lohrei, and Henri Jokiharju. They have also brought in multiple new players as they look to bounce back in 2025-26.

One Bruin off-season move that deserves more attention is the signing of forward Michael Eyssimont. The Original Six club signed Eyssimont to a two-year, $2.9 million contract on the first day of free agency, and he has the potential to be a sneaky good addition to their roster.

Eyssimont spent this past season split between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Seattle Kraken, where he recorded nine goals and 16 points in 77 games. Overall, it was a decent year for the 28-year-old, but he has shown in the past that he has the potential to provide more offense while playing in a bottom-six role.

Just back in 2023-24 with the Lightning, Eyssimont posted career highs with 11 goals, 14 assists, and 25 points in 81 games. If Eyssimont can get his numbers back up to these levels in a bottom-six role in 2025-26, it would be good for a Bruins club that is in need of more depth offensive production.

However, two major reasons why the Bruins brought in Eyssimont is because of his extremely physical style of play and high speed. These elements of his game should make the Bruins a tougher team to go up against, which is certainly another need for them right now. In 213 career NHL games, Eyssimont has thrown 352 hits, so he is certainly not afraid to throw the body.

Overall, while Eyssimont may not be one of the biggest signings of the summer, the potential for him to become a nice part of the Bruins' roster is certainly there. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact he can make from here.
