This Boston Bruins prospect is once again finding offensive success in the AHL.
Boston Bruins prospect Georgii Merkulov was among the club's many prospects who fought for a spot on their NHL roster at training camp. In the end, he did not make the cut and is back with the Providence Bruins because of it.
Merkulov is coming off an All-Star season with Providence, posting 30 goals and 65 points in 67 games. Now, the 24-year-old forward is picking up right where he left off with the AHL squad this season, as he has two assists in his first two games.
If Merkulov hopes to land a recall from the Bruins this season, he will need to continue to produce offensively with Providence. This will undoubtedly increase his chances of getting more reps with Boston during this campaign.
Merkulov is one of the Bruins' most promising prospects, so it will be fascinating to see how he builds off his solid offensive start from here.
