The Boston Bruins were one of the busiest teams at the 2025 NHL trade deadline, as they traded away several of their former key players after underperforming significantly.

Because of this, let's rank each of the Bruins' notable trades from the 2025 NHL trade deadline now.

No. 6: Bruins Trade Brad Marchand To Panthers

The Bruins officially committed to a new chapter in their franchise when they traded former captain Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a conditional 2027 second-round pick. However, with Marchand playing in at least 50% of Florida's playoff games and the Panthers, of course, making it past two rounds, the pick changed to a first-rounder for the Bruins.

While the Bruins ended up getting a first-rounder for Marchand, there is no question that this return for No. 63 was certainly underwhelming. This is especially so when noting that Marchand absolutely thrived in the playoffs with the Panthers, recording 10 goals, 20 points, and a plus-17 rating in 23 games. Thus, he was a major reason why Florida ended up repeating as Stanley Cup champions.

Overall, while the Bruins did Marchand a favor by trading him to his preferred destination, this trade is one that stings in more ways than one. This is especially so when noting that Marchand will now be a Panther for six more seasons after re-signing with them this summer.

No. 5: Bruins Trade Justin Brazeau To Wild

With Justin Brazeau being a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA), the Bruins traded him to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Marat Khusnutdinov, Jakub Lauko, and a 2026 sixth-round pick. Overall, the Bruins got a solid return for the big winger.

While the Bruins opted not to re-sign Lauko this off-season, Khusnutdinov will be a fascinating player to watch from here. The 23-year-old forward has demonstrated promise since coming to Boston, and there is reason to believe that he could be a solid top-nine forward for the Bruins. Thus, this was a nice little trade for Boston.

No. 4: Bruins Acquire Henri Jokiharju From Sabres

While the Bruins were major sellers at the 2025 NHL trade deadline, they did add to their roster by acquiring defenseman Henri Jokiharju from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round pick. The move was understandable, as they needed another right-shot defenseman after trading Brandon Carlo to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

While bringing in Jokiharju was viewed as a small move for the Bruins, it actually turned out to be a good trade for them. Jokiharju impressed after being traded to the Original Six club, recording four assists and a plus-7 rating in 18 games. As a result of his solid play, the Bruins re-signed to a three-year, $9 million contract this summer. With this, he will continue to be a key part of the Bruins' right side, and the Bruins did not need to give up much to get him.

No. 3: Bruins Trade Trent Frederic To Oilers

The Bruins traded Trent Frederic and Max Jones to the Edmonton Oilers in a three-team trade with the New Jersey Devils ahead of the deadline. The Bruins received a 2025 second-round pick (51st overall), defenseman Max Wanner, and a 2026 fourth-round pick in the trade. With the second-rounder, the Bruins selected center William Moore, who was expected to go earlier in the draft.

When noting that Frederic struggled significantly for the Bruins in 2024-25, it is hard not to like this deal for the Original Six club. They landed a promising new prospect in Moore and also have another young defenseman to work with in Wanner. Yet, the Oilers also clearly are happy with the trade, as they gave Frederic an eight-year contract extension this summer. Thus, this looks like a good move for both sides.

No. 2: Bruins Trade Charlie Coyle To Avalanche

The Bruins certainly did well with the Charlie Coyle trade at the deadline. For the Massachusetts native and their 2026 fifth-round pick, the Bruins received Casey Mittelstadt, Will Zellers, and a 2025 second-round pick, which was used to select defenseman Liam Pettersson.

While Mittelstadt had a tough start to his Bruins tenure, the possibility of him turning things around is there when looking at his past success. Zellers is undoubtedly a notable part of this trade, as the young sniper absolutely dominated the USHL this past season, scoring a league-leading 44 goals and recording 71 points in 52 games. As for Pettersson, he has the potential to emerge as a solid NHL-caliber defenseman in the future.

Overall, the return the Bruins got for Coyle was excellent, and this is especially the case when noting that Colorado already traded him this summer to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

No. 1: Bruins Trade Brandon Carlo to Maple Leafs

While trading Carlo to a division rival like the Maple Leafs was risky, the Bruins got a great return for him. The Bruins acquired forward prospect Fraser Minten, a 2026 first-round pick, and a 2025 fourth-round pick for the right-shot defenseman.

Although the Bruins undoubtedly miss Carlo on the right side of their defense, it is hard not to like this trade for Boston. They landed an exciting center in Minten, who has the potential to become a key forward for them, and they have another first-rounder next season. The first-round pick is significant for the Bruins, as their prospect pool needs all the help it can get.
