Report: 3 Bruins Generating Serious Trade Interest

These three Bruins are reportedly generating interest around the NHL

Boston's Cam Neely Could Be Next On The Hot Seat

The Boston Bruins fell to the Vegas Golden Knights by a 4-3 final score on Feb. 8. It was another incredibly frustrating loss for the Bruins, as they blew a 3-2 lead in the third period. This was the second game in a row where Boston surrendered a lead in the third and lost. This is not good for a team fighting for their playoff lives.

With this latest ugly loss, the Bruins have now fallen to a 27-24-6 record and still trail the Detroit Red Wings by one point for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

With the Bruins struggling to find consistency, there have naturally been a ton of trade rumors surrounding them, especially with the deadline quickly approaching. During the Bruins' loss to the Golden Knights on ABC, Emily Kaplan named a few Bruins generating trade interest.

According to Kaplan, the Bruins are receiving "a bunch of calls" on Brandon Carlo, Morgan Geekie, and Trent Frederic.

It is easy to understand why Carlo is generating interest. He is a big right-shot defenseman who plays top-four minutes and kills penalties, so he could be a major addition to a playoff club.

Carlo, 28, has a reasonable $4.1 million cap hit until the end of the 2026-27 season, which adds to his appeal. In 55 games this season, Carlo has one goal, nine points, 56 hits, and 104 blocks.

While the Bruins struggling, Geekie is undoubtedly not. The 26-year-old forward has already tied his career high of 17 goals and has 29 points in 52 games. With numbers like these, he could be a solid addition to a playoff club.

Geekie is a pending restricted free agent, so the Bruins would still have control over his signing rights this summer if they tender him a qualifying offer. Trading Geekie would be quite risky for the Bruins, as he has become a nice fit in Boston's top six down the stretch.

As for Frederic, he has been the subject of trade rumors all season. The 2016 first-round pick is a pending unrestricted free agent, and plenty of teams would love to have his grit in their bottom six.

In 55 games this season, Frederic has eight goals, 15 points, 147 hits, and a minus-11 rating.
