This Bruins defenseman is being linked to a team overseas.
During this past offseason, the Boston Bruins acquired defenseman Victor Soderstrom from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for blueliner Ryan Mast and a 2025 seventh-round pick. This was after Soderstrom had nine goals and 37 points in 49 games for Brynas IF of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) during the 2024-25 season.
Soderstrom played in eight games for Boston this regular season, where he had one assist and a plus-3 rating. However, he has not played at the NHL level for Boston since late December and has spent the majority of the campaign in the AHL with Providence Bruins. In 57 games this season for the AHL club, he has nine goals, 30 points, and a plus-9 rating.
Overall, Soderstrom has been a nice pickup for Providence's blueline, but the 25-year-old defenseman's time with the organization may be coming to a close this summer.
According to Expressen's Johan Svensson and Mattias Persson, Soderstrom is expected to join EHC Biel-Bienne of the National League in Switzerland for the 2026-27 season.
Given the fact that Soderstrom has had trouble cementing himself as a full-time NHL defenseman, it would be understandable if he takes his talents overseas again. If this comes to fruition, the Bruins will likely look to add a right-shot depth defenseman during the summer to replace him.
