This potential Bruins target is not expected to be an option anymore.

The Boston Bruins' top goal of the summer will be to finally add a legitimate first-line center. This has been a major need for them since Patrice Bergeron retired at the end of the 2022-23 season, and they must successfully address it if they hope to be legitimate contenders in 2026-27.

However, unfortunately for the Bruins, one of their best potential options for their 1C spot is no longer expected to be moved.

According to Andy Strickland, St. Louis Blues star center Robert Thomas is not being shopped by the Central Division club and is expected to remain on their roster.

With the Bruins needing a true first-line center, Thomas stood out as a prime potential target for the Original Six club to consider. This is especially so when noting that he was available leading up to the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline. Yet, with this update from Strickland, the Bruins will need to address their first-line center problem elsewhere.

Thomas would have been an amazing fit on the Bruins, though. His elite playmaking ability would have made him a perfect center for superstar winger David Pastrnak to play with. However, that dream can now be forgotten.

It will now be interesting to see what the Bruins do this off-season with Thomas no longer being a potential option for them. A few centers in the rumor mill right now include Nico Hischier, Dylan Larkin, Vincent Trocheck, and Mathew Barzal.
