This Bruins prospect making the NHL roster should not be ruled out.
The Boston Bruins will have multiple prospects to keep a close eye on next season, and Riley Duran is one of them.
The 24-year-old forward is gearing up for his third full season with the Bruins organization after signing a one-year, two-way contract extension with the Original Six club last month. The 2020 sixth-round pick has spent the bulk of his time with the organization down in the AHL with the Providence Bruins, as he has appeared in just two career NHL games. He played both those contests during the 2024-25 campaign.
While Duran has not gotten a lot of chances on Boston's roster, that has the potential to change next season. The Boston, Massachusetts native's high-energy and hard-nosed style of play could help him get more opportunities in Boston's bottom six next season.
With the Bruins being a team focused on the future, they should not be afraid to give Duran more reps on their NHL roster next season. The potential for him to become a solid bottom-six forward at the NHL level is there, and it would not hurt for them to give some of their young players more opportunities.
The Bruins have a lot of NHL-caliber forwards, so Duran may have trouble making the team right out of training camp. However, if he impresses in the AHL next season with Providence, it would not be shocking at all if he gets more opportunities at the NHL level next season.
In 72 games last season with Providence, Duran recorded seven goals, 12 assists, 19 points, and a plus-19 rating. This is after he had 12 goals and 16 points in 60 games with Providence in 2024-25.
