JJ Peterka has the potential to be a strong addition to the Bruins' roster.
The Boston Bruins have made multiple moves this off-season. Among them was acquiring forward JJ Peterka from the Utah Mammoth in a big move.
The Bruins' decision to trade for Peterka is not too difficult to understand. Their forward group needed more skill, and he will provide them with just that. Furthermore, at just 24 years old, he should fit in nicely on a Bruins club that is still retooling its roster.
Peterka may have had a tough time finding his fit with Utah in 2025-26, but he still scored 25 goals and posted 47 points in 82 games. However, when noting that he had 27 goals and 68 points in 77 games with the Buffalo Sabres in 2024-25, he has the potential to be a significant addition to Boston's roster. This is especially so when noting that he is expected to play in the Bruins' top six and on their power play.
Peterka has also scored at least 25 goals in each of his last seasons. This included in 2023-24, when he posted 28 goals in 82 games for the Sabres. With this, he is a consistent scoring threat, and the possibility of him hitting the 30-goal mark in Boston should not be ruled out. This is especially the case if he ends up playing on a line with David Pastrnak, who just recorded 71 assists last season.
Nevertheless, there is a lot to be optimistic about when it comes to Peterka. It will be interesting to see how his first season as a Bruin goes in 2026-27.
