The Bruins picked up a solid win against the Kraken.
The Boston Bruins had another strong game on Sunday evening (Nov. 3), as they defeated the Seattle Kraken by a 2-0 final score. This is the second game in a row where they shut out their opponent, which is a significant step in the right direction.
Let's go over three takeaways from the Bruins' solid win now.
Jeremy Swayman needed a big game against the Kraken, and he had just that. He saved all 23 Kraken shots he faced for his first shutout of the season. This was after the 25-year-old allowed six goals on 22 shots against the Carolina Hurricanes in his last appearance.
The Bruins needed this kind of game from Swayman. He stepped up big time in the third period especially, saving all 13 shots he faced.
The start of the season has been tough for Charlie Coyle. In his first 12 games, he had just one goal to go along with a minus-9 rating. However, he took a step in the right direction in this matchup against Seattle, as he scored a highlight reel goal.
The Bruins will now hope that Coyle can continue to put performances like this from here. When noting that he had 25 goals and 60 points just last season, he undoubtedly has the potential to be a more significant threat.
The Bruins' defense had themselves another strong night. This was especially so during the first period, as the Kraken only had three shots. The same can be said about the Bruins' defense in the second period, as they held the Kraken to only seven shots.
While the Kraken had more momentum during the third period, the Bruins' defense deserves some love for their play in this matchup.
