The Boston Bruins have once again lost to the Florida Panthers.
The Boston Bruins lost to the Florida Panthers by a 4-3 final score today (Oct. 14). This loss was particularly frustrating, as the Panthers did not have superstars Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov in their lineup. However, the Bruins failed to secure a single point from the matchup and again fell to the Cats.
Here are three takeaways from the Bruins' latest loss to the Panthers now.
The Boston Bruins fourth line of Mark Kastelic, Johnny Beecher, and Cole Koepke has been a fun surprise early on this season. Besides providing plenty of energy with their physicality, they have also contributed extremely well offensively. This carried over to this contest against the Panthers.
Kastelic put together a three-assist night, Beecher had a goal and an assist, and Koepke added a helper of his own. This trio is easily Boston's best line right now.
Once again, not a single player from the Bruins' second line scored a goal in this one. Thus, Brad Marchand, Morgan Geekie, and Charlie Coyle all still have zero goals this season. They were also not particularly noticeable in the offensive zone in this matchup.
Due to this, head coach Jim Montgomery broke up the second line later in the game. Marchand skated with Matthew Poitras and Justin Brazeau, while Coyle and Geekie were dropped to the third line with Frederic.
The Bruins were understandably upset with old friend A.J. Greer's hit on David Pastrnak. However, following that play, their discipline dropped dramatically, negatively impacting their play. They seemed to lose complete control of the contest.
The Panthers have had a wide range of success against the Bruins because they get under the Original Six club's skin. Today was just the latest example.
