This Bruins star won't be in the lineup for Team USA against Team Sweden.
Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy made a big impact in Team USA's 3-1 win over Team Canada on Feb. 15. The 2016 first-round notably landed a massive hit on superstar Connor McDavid, which led Team USA's Jake Guentzel to score shortly after.
However, fans won't see McAvoy back in the lineup against Team Sweden on Feb. 17.
While speaking to reporters, Team USA head coach Mike Sullivan announced that McAvoy will be scratched against Team Sweden. In addition, he revealed that Ottawa Senators blueliner Jake Sanderson will replace the Bruins star on Canada's blueline.
Sullivan did not reveal the specific reason for McAvoy coming out of the lineup. With Team USA already qualifying for the championship game on Feb. 20, this could very well be a situation where they are simply resting McAvoy.

McAvoy coming out of the lineup is not the only notable roster move for Team USA. Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk has been ruled out for the matchup due to a lower-body injury, and New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider will draw in. In addition, Dallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger is replacing Winnipeg Jets netminder Connor Hellebuyck between the pipes for Team USA.
