Do you agree with this ranking for McAvoy?
The NHL Network released its latest Top 20 Defensemen Right Now rankings, and, without any surprise, Boston Bruins blueliner Charlie McAvoy made the cut.
McAvoy was given the No. 11 spot by the NHL Network on their latest rankings, just like he received ahead of the 2025-26 season.
With McAvoy picking up the No. 11 spot, he ranked ahead of other NHL star defensemen like Jaccob Slavin (Carolina Hurricanes), Adam Fox (New York Rangers), Brock Faber (Minnesota Wild), and Roman Josi (Nashville Predators). Meanwhile, defensemen like Evan Bouchard (Edmonton Oilers), Moritz Seider (Detroit Red Wings), and Jake Sanderson (Ottawa Senators) were all ranked just ahead of McAvoy in this year's rankings.
When looking at the season McAvoy just had for the Bruins, it is fair to argue that he had a case to make the top-10. He was a major reason why the Bruins made the playoffs in 2025-26, as he scored 11 goals and set new career highs with 50 assists and 61 points in 69 games.
Nevertheless, McAvoy will now be looking to have another strong year for the Bruins in 2026-27.
