With Brandon Carlo and Derek Forbort returning to the active roster off injured reserve, the Boston Bruins are sending a couple players to the AHL.

The Boston Bruins sent Mason Lohrei and Johnny Beecher down to AHL Providence on Saturday, the team announced.
The moves come after defensemen Brandon Carlo (upper body) and Derek Forbort (lower body) were activated off injured reserve.
"Continue to work on being hard and firm. Continue to work on reading rushes, and continue to work on puck management," Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said about what his advice would be to Lohrei in particular if he were sent down. "We want him to trust his instincts. We want him to make plays."
Lohrei, 23, was one of the final cuts out of training camp, but with all the injuries on Boston's blue line, he's spent more time with the big club than originally planned.
The 2020 second-round pick has three goals and three assists in 27 games. He has six points -- all assists -- in 10 games with AHL Providence, where the organization has prioritized him playing big minutes in all situations.
"I think [Lohrei's] really taken steps in the right direction, especially defensively," Montgomery said. "He's been hard physically on the point of confrontational areas, which is 1-on-1 battles in my mind. I think he's been a lot more firm and assertive there."
Beecher, 22, made the opening night roster as Boston's fourth-line center. The 2019 first-round pick carved out his spot through his proficiency on face-offs and his physical play.
Beecher has seven points (five goals, two assists) through 39 games, ranks third on the team in hits (60) and second in face-off winning percentage (53.9%). However, he was scratched from the past two games, and will now go to Providence for the first time this season.
Carlo returns after a five-game absence due to a reported concussion, while Forbort is back in the lineup for the first time since Dec. 3.
The Bruins take on the Montreal Canadiens at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
