The NHL saw 17 players hit the waiver wire today (Oct. 3). Two of them just so happen to be former Buffalo Sabres players, as the Florida Panthers placed Rasmus Asplund and Zac Dalpe on waivers.

Asplund, 26, was selected by the Sabres as the 33rd overall pick of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. The 26-year-old winger played four seasons with the Sabres, where he had 18 goals, 49 points, and a minus-8 rating in 164 contests. As a Sabre in 2021-22, he set career highs with eight goals, 19 assists, and 27 points.

Asplund's time with the Sabres came to an end when he was traded to the Nashville Predators during the 2022-23 season.

Dalpe, on the other hand, spent the 2014-15 season with the Sabres organization. In 21 games with the Sabres that campaign, he had one goal, three points, and a minus-11 rating. He also appeared in 44 games with the Rochester Americans, posting 16 goals and 28 points.

Dalpe spent all of last season down in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers, recording 17 goals, 13 assists, 50 penalty minutes, and a plus-8 rating.
