Nikita Zadorov's future will soon be revealed.

Nikita Zadorov is one of the top defensemen who can hit the free-agent market this summer. If the Vancouver Canucks do not get him re-signed, he will generate a lot of interest, as he is a big hard-hitting defenseman who just had an excellent postseason.

Yet, the Canucks have still not given up on re-signing Zadorov just yet. According to NHL Elliotte Friedman, the 6-foot-6 defenseman's decision to stay or leave the Canucks is incoming.

Here's what the insider said recently on 32 Thoughts: The Podcast on the matter:

"I think we're gonna know in the next few days if there's any hope on Zadorov. Like I said, it appears unlikely, but someone reached out to me and said 'that one's not over yet... It might be over soon, but not yet.' I would say the odds are less than 50%."

While the Canucks' odds of keeping Zadorov appear to be low, the door has not been closed yet. The 29-year-old is understandably looking for his big payday, as he is right in his prime and is one of the best defenders in a relatively weak free-agent market.

Zadorov appeared in 75 games this season, split between the Calgary Flames, where he had six goals, 20 points, 125 penalty minutes, and 177 hits. He then followed that up with four goals, eight points, and a plus-8 rating in 13 playoff games.
