Bowen Byram has been off to a very hot start with the Sabres.

Before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passed, the Buffalo Sabres made a major move, trading Casey Mittelstadt to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Bowen Byram. While the Sabres trading their former leading scorer seemed like a risky move at first glance, Byram's outstanding start in Buffalo has helped alleviate those concerns.
Byram, 22, has been simply excellent since joining the Sabres. In four games with the club thus far, he has three goals to go along with five points. With that, he has not been showing any signs of slowing down, posting two goals, one assist, and a plus-5 rating over his last two games.

While Byram's offensive contributions have been most impressive, he also has provided plenty of stability defensively while playing top-pairing minutes. With the Sabres' defense needing a boost, this is a very nice development, and they will be hoping that Byram can keep this play up from here.
With the Avalanche's defense depth being so strong, that naturally impacted Byram's minutes. However, he is now getting bigger chances to shine with the Sabres, and he is taking advantage of it big time.
