The Golden Knights could use the Sabres' help on the trade market.
With the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline less than a week away, the Buffalo Sabres are preparing for what should be a pretty eventful few days. They are expected to trade some of their pending UFAs but also potentially add if it helps them beyond this season.
When it comes to selling off some of their pending UFAs, the Vegas Golden Knights are starting to stand out as a possible trading partner for Buffalo. Vegas is looking for forward help with Mark Stone out, and if they strike out on some of the more prominent names, they have some Sabres worth considering.
Kyle Okposo is one Sabre who could generate interest from the Golden Knights. While he is more of a bottom-six forward at this juncture of his career, he still provides solid secondary scoring to go along with physicality. With that, he would give the Golden Knights more leadership if acquired.
In 58 games this season, Okposo has 12 goals, 21 points, and 58 hits. Overall, it has been another solid season for the Sabres' captain, and he has the potential to be a solid addition to a contender like Vegas because of it.
However, if the Golden Knights are looking for a more traditional sniper, Victor Olofsson is also a player that they could take a flier on. While this season has been a tough one for him, he just had 28 goals and 40 points last season. Maybe a move to Vegas could help him get his game back on track. He would potentially work decently on their third line and second power-play unit.
In 35 games this season, Olofsson has four goals and 12 points.
It will be interesting to see if the Golden Knights express interest in these two Sabres forwards over the next week from here.
