The Sabres should consider making a push for Philip Broberg.

The Buffalo Sabres are an interesting position. While there is a clear expectation that they will sell off some of their pending UFAs, they also are open to adding to their roster if it helps them out in the long-term.
Because of this, the Sabres should seriously consider the prospect of making a push for Edmonton Oilers young defenseman Philip Broberg.

Broberg, 22, has been in the rumor mill for much of this season, as the Oilers granted him permission to seek a trade back in December. While a move has yet to occur, that certainly could change by next week. With the Sabres needing help on their blue line, they are in a spot to take a shot on the former top prospect.
Broberg was selected by the Oilers with the eighth overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. While he has not developed into a high-impact NHL defenseman at this juncture of his career, a change of scenery could help him get back on track. On a team like the Sabres, he would surely get more opportunities at the NHL level.

While Broberg is a left-shot defenseman, he has experience playing both sides, so he would be a fit virtually anywhere in Buffalo's lineup if acquired. With that, he also could be an option for their power play.
Broberg has appeared in 10 games this season with the Oilers, where he has zero points and a minus-2 rating. However, he has been a significant force in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors, posting one goal and 19 points in 29 games. He also was on fire before his current injury, as he had 10 assists in his last 10 games.
