The Sabres could target this Coyotes forward leading up to the deadline.

With the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline approaching, there's a feeling that the Buffalo Sabres are not only open to selling off some of the pending UFAs but also adding to their roster if it helps them beyond this season. They have specifically connected to two centers in Logan Couture and Scott Laughton because of this.
With this, it is pretty clear that the Sabres are looking to add a veteran center with term to their roster. While adding one of Couture or Laughton would be good for Buffalo, they have another under-the-radar trade target whom they could target over the next two weeks - Arizona Coyotes center Nick Bjugstad.

Bjugstad, 31, has been starting to make the rounds in the rumor mill, as the Coyotes' ongoing 11-game losing streak has tanked their playoff hopes. This means that they will be sellers at the deadline. With Bjugstad being under contract until the end of next season, he is a player who would make sense for Buffalo.
Bjugstad is quietly having an excellent season with the Coyotes, posting 12 goals and 30 points in 56 games. However, besides producing offensively, he has also been impactful on both of their special-team units and effective with his physicality (85 hits).
The Sabres certainly could use a skillful forward who plays a steady two-way game, hits, and is a good leader. As a result, Bjugstad's a player whom they should seriously be eyeing leading up to March 8.
