Sabres Players Closing In On Personal Records
Sabres center Ryan McLeod is one goal from reaching the 20-goal mark for the first time. The Buffalo Sabres have just seven games left in the regular season and will be eliminated from the postseason with a combination of two regulation losses or two Montreal Canadiens victories, but the club’s recent success has made it possible for some players to reach personal benchmarks.
In the club’s 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, Sabres leading scorer Tage Thompson reached the 40-goal mark for the second time in his career, and Jason Zucker reached the 20-goal plateau for the sixth time. Thompson set a career-high with 47 goals in 2022-23 and would have to score seven goals in the remaining games to reach that mark. Zucker also reached the 50-point mark, his best season since scoring 64 points with Minnesota in 2017-18.

As with Thompson, winger Alex Tuch scored a career-high in 2022-23, notching 36 goals in the campaign where the Sabres missed the postseason by a single point. Tuch reached the 30-goal mark in Washington late last month and is at 32, giving him a good chance at tying or setting a career-high before the season concludes.
Ryan McLeod has already set career highs in points (48) and goals (19) but is one away from reaching the 20-goal mark for the first time. J-J Peterka scored a career-high 28 last season and would need to tally six goals in the remaining seven games to set a new mark.
Jack Quinn has matched his career-high with 14 goals and will set a new mark with one goal in the last seven games, while Peyton Krebs needs three points to set a new personal best, and is one goal from scoring in double figures for the first time.
