The Buffalo Sabres are entering the offseason with big expectations. After extending their playoff drought to 13 years, they are expected to be aggressive. Two of their biggest needs are a top-six winger and a top-nine center. However, it appears that they also are open to adding to their goaltending.
According to The Fourth Period, the Sabres are one of the clubs currently linked to Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson.
Gustavsson, 26, has been the subject of trade rumors since the Wild's season came to an end. It is understandable, as Jesper Wallstedt is ready to jump to the NHL, while Marc-Andre Fleury has been extended. Thus, Gustavsson could be the odd man out.

Gustavsson could be a good stop-gap goalie for the Sabres to acquire. Bringing him in would allow the Sabres to allow Devon Levi more time to develop his game in the AHL. Meanwhile, he would also provide the Sabres with another experienced goalie to form a tandem with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.
Gustavsson is under contract until the end of the 2025-26 season, carrying a $3.75 million hit.
In 45 appearances this season for the Wild, Gustavsson had a 20-18-4 record, a 3.06 GAA, and a .899 SV%. While it was a down year for the 26-year-old, he is a clear bounce-back candidate. Keep in mind, he had a 22-9-7 record, a 2.10 GAA, and a .931 SV% just back in 2022-23.
