If this Sabres forward hits the market, the Bruins could be in the mix.

The Buffalo Sabres do not have any stars who can become unrestricted free agents on July 1. However, Zemgus Girgensons is still a notable UFA for the Sabres, as he is their longest-tenured player, having spent his entire 10-year career thus far with the club.
There has been talk that Girgensons will hit the free-agent market, but there is still plenty of time for things to change on that front. However, if the Sabres elect to let him walk, there should be some interest in the 2012 first-round pick. This is because he is a hard-nosed bottom-six forward who kills penalties and has plenty of experience.
The Boston Bruins are one specific club that should be watched if Girgensons hits the free-agent market. They were one of the teams that expressed interest in Girgensons leading up to the deadline.

The Bruins are in a position to add to their bottom six this offseason. Players like Danton Heinen, James van Riemsdyk, Pat Maroon, and Milan Lucic have expired deals. Thus, they may be on the hunt for some help in their bottom six, and Girgensons could give them that.
If the Bruins signed Girgensons, he would be a clear fit on their fourth line. This is especially so when noting that he can play both down the middle and on the wing. In addition, he would provide them another option for their penalty kill.
