The Buffalo Sabres picked up an impressive 5-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday (Oct. 26). Sabres star Tage Thompson played a big role in the win, as he scored two goals and added an assist for good measure.
Thompson also made a little bit of history in the process. The 6-foot-6 center set a new record with the hardest shot (104.69 MPH) since the start of the NHL Edge Era (2021-22). Utah HC's Michael Kesselring previously had the record with a 103.77 MPH shot.
Thompson's shot also benefitted the Sabres big time. While it was stopped by Red Wings goalie Alex Lyon, Jason Zucker got the rebound and fired it home.
