The Sabres are once again being connected to this Sharks forward.

One of the Buffalo Sabres' goals this offseason is to add another center to their top nine. It is understandable, as they need to improve down the middle if they hope to make a real push for a playoff spot next season.
Because of this, the Sabres are once again being connected to San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture.
NHL insider David Pagnotta recently reported that trade talks centering around Couture should pick up this offseason once it is confirmed that he will be good to go for the 2024-25 season. He is expected to start skating again in July.

Here is what Pagnotta said about Couture: "If he is healthy enough, I believe the San Jose Sharks will entertain some trade discussions with other teams regarding their captain Logan Couture. There were other teams last season — Buffalo (Sabres), Nashville (Predators), Ottawa (Senators), that inquired about him. I think that will be revived this off-season once they solidify his health status for next season."
The Sabres were connected to Couture leading up to the deadline, but a move did not come to fruition. Yet, with the team still needing another proven center, it is unsurprising that they may have him on their radar again.

Couture, 35, would give the Sabres an impactful center with experience if acquired. When healthy, he is a consistent 60-point threat, and the Sabres could use that on their third line right now. In addition, he would give them a much-needed veteran who is known for his outstanding leadership.
However, given Couture's injury trouble this year, there are naturally red flags with potentially landing him. He also has an $8 million cap hit until the end of the 2026-27 season and a three-team trade list.
