A former Sabres defenseman and notable trade candidate is set to miss time.

Former Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen has been causing plenty of chatter in the rumor mill as we get closer to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. Teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and Calgary Flames have been connected to the Philadelphia Flyers defenseman, but now, trade talks surrounding him are likely to decrease significantly.

The Athletic's Kevin Kurz reported today that Ristolainen will undergo an upper-body procedure and will miss at least the next two to three weeks because of it. This was reported after The Fourth Period's Anthony Di Marco shared that Ristolainen will miss time.
Ristolainen, 29, has appeared in 31 games this season with the Flyers, where he has one goal and four points. While his offensive numbers are low, he has been more dependable defensively and has been impactful with his physicality. Because of this, he was garnering trade interest, but now this injury will surely complicate things on that front.
