This Bruins prospect is being viewed as the team's top trading asset for the deadline.
The Boston Bruins are currently tied with the Vancouver Canucks at the top of the NHL standings. Due to this, it is quite clear that they will be buyers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline.
However, for the Bruins to add a high-impact player, they are going to need to give up something substantial. Unfortunately for them, they do not have their first three picks for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and also don't have their 2025 second-round pick. Because of this, they may be forced to part ways with a notable prospect at the deadline if they hope to add.
In a recent article for The Bleacher Report, Adam Gretz argued that top prospect Fabian Lysell is the club's "top bargaining chip" for the upcoming trade deadline for these very reasons.
Lysell, 21, was selected by the Bruins with their 2021 first-round pick. The skilled winger has the tools to blossom into a potential top-six forward, so he would garner a lot of interest from rebuilding teams if made available.
Lysell has also taken a step forward with his development this campaign. In 42 games with the Providence Bruins, he has 13 goals to go along with 38 points. With that, he has been heating up lately, posting eight points over his last five games.
It would certainly be risky to trade Lysell, as he is the team's top prospect and has a bright future ahead of him. However, if the Bruins want to bring in a notable name like Noah Hanifin before the trade deadline, the club may be forced to part ways with the skilled Lysell.
