The Great One's record has been beaten by Evander Kane.
Edmonton Oilers left-winger Evander Kane led the team in goal-scoring and beat two historical Oilers records, including Wayne Gretzky's.
Kane reached five Hat Tricks in just 130 games, and Gretzky did so in 136.

Glenn Anderson, who played for the Oilers from 1980 until 1991, did so in 173 games.
Kane's final goal was an empty-netter with 1:11 left in the third period, and the Oilers beat the Anaheim Ducks in California yesterday.
All his goals were significant; the first one put the Oilers on the board; the second tied the game when they were down one; and the third was, in addition to the record-breaker, the one to secure their win.
"I didn't even realize that... nine years in the league, [and] I didn't have a Hat Trick, so I was just hoping to get one at some point," Kane said to reporters in a postgame interview.

He said it was nice scoring early, leaving the All-Star break, and getting ready for the second half of the season.
Kane's first playoff series was in the Honda Center, and it was very exciting doing it in that building.
"We were coming off a loss, so it was a big game and nice for us to get two points," he said.
This was also a near-record for the Oilers, as they reached 30 wins in only 47 games, the fifth-fewest in team history. The seasons that beat this were from 1983 until 1987, during all of which Wayne Gretzky played for Edmonton.
This was the Oilers' first game since snapping their nearly record-breaking 16-game winning streak, losing to the Las Vegas Golden Knights 3-1 on Tuesday.
Kane, the top performer for the Oilers, had 17:29 of ice time, just above his season average of 17:16.
This was more ice time than his linemate, Corey Perry, at 15:22, whom he enjoys playing with and said it is beneficial to have him on your side, but wouldn't want to play against players like him.

Kane's three goals were capitalizations on seven shots on goal he took during the game, more than any of his teammates.
The other two of the Oilers' goals were scored by Kane's star linemate Leon Draisaitl and front line right-winger Zach Hyman.
The Ducks remain in second-last in the Pacific Division at 38 points (18-31-2 record), only ahead of their NorCal counterpart, the San Jose Sharks at 33 points (14-32-5).
