In the Buffalo Sabres' recent 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks, Jack Quinn notably suffered a lower-body injury after a hit from Tomas Hertl. Following the game, Sabres head coach Don Granato had this to say about the injury: "It's certainly not day-to-day."

Now, we have a better idea of how long the skilled winger will miss.

According to The Buffalo News' Lance Lysowski, Quinn has undergone surgery on his lower-body injury and is expected to miss the next eight weeks of action. Lysowski also reported that Quinn's injury is not related to his previous Achilles injury, nor did his knee suffer any damage.

While it is good to hear that this injury is not related to Quinn's Achilles, it is still awful that he will be forced to miss so much time. The 22-year-old winger has had a solid season since returning from injury on Dec. 19, posting five goals and 12 points in 17 games. He was well on his way to a breakout season, but now his campaign has to be put on pause while he was in the middle of a hot streak. He had a goal and three assists in his last two games.

If Quinn recovers on his estimated schedule, he will return at some point in mid-March. That would give him some games to play in before the completion of the season. Here's to hoping that he has a speedy recovery and does not suffer any setbacks along the way.
