Flames have extra line shuffling to make after their pest was banished for a check from behind during Monday's loss to Seattle

Calgary Flames forward Martin Pospisil has been handed a three-game suspension on Wednesday, which will keep out of the lineup for all of their coming three-game road trip.

Pospisil was given a major penalty and game misconduct late in Monday’s 4-2 loss to the Seattle Kraken after a dangerous hit on Vince Dunn, a collision that raised the ire of the visitors and was called “garbage” by Kraken coach Dave Hakstol. Dunn did not play in Seattle’s game on Tuesday against the Winnipeg Jets, which was taken into account.

“The brunt of the impact was delivered to Dunn’s back,” said the league’s department of player safety in the video.

Early in the game, Pospisil levelled Seattle’s Adam Larsson with a hard check that was not penalized but made him a target the rest of the game.

Pospisil is no stranger to creating controversy for his rambunctious play. When the Flames drafted him, then-general manager Brad Treliving quipped “he could find trouble in church”. Even with Pospisil’s reputation as being disturber, and has been warned about fighting due to a series of previous concussions, Flames coach Ryan Huska said after the Seattle game that he has managed to avoid trouble. “For the majority part of the year, he’s been walking the line on the right side of it for sure. He’s done a really good job with that. He brings a lot to our team,” Huska said.

Pospisil avoided extra punishment for an elbow to the head of Winnipeg Jets forward Cole Perfetti in the pre-season and a cross-checking major and game misconduct against Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins last month.
