The Calgary Flames prospect pipeline continues to deliver encouraging results, with forward Cole Reschny earning top freshman honours in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.

The league announced Tuesday that Reschny has been named NCHC Rookie of the Year following an impressive debut season. The Macklin, Saskatchewan product paced all conference freshmen in scoring, recording 31 points in 30 regular-season games. His playmaking stood out in particular, as he led rookies with 26 assists while adding five goals.

Reschny also represented Canada at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championships posting five points (4g, 1a) in seven games.

Selected 18th overall by Calgary in the first round of the 2025 NHL Draft, Reschny is already showing signs of becoming a key piece of the organization’s future.

Beyond his offensive production, the young centre has also demonstrated strong two-way reliability. He finished third among NCHC rookies with 276 faceoff wins and posted a 54.9 percent success rate at the dot—ranking second among freshman centres in the conference.

With Calgary continuing to build organizational depth down the middle, Reschny’s early success at the collegiate level provides another positive development for the club’s long-term outlook.
