The Carolina Hurricanes aim to extend their win streak to nine games as they take on the LA Kings (37-21-9) this afternoon in a weekend matinee.

The Canes enter this afternoon's match on an eight-game winning streak, most recently defeating the San Jose Sharks 3-1 on Thursday.

During the streak, the Hurricanes have not allowed more than two goals against and are outscoring opponents 27-10.

It'll be a little tougher for the team tonight though as they'll be without Jordan Staal, Shayne Gostisbehere and Andrei Svechnikov.

The Kings are coming off of a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday and are winners of six of their last seven games.

While goals have been a bit hard to come by for LA this season, they're getting some tremendous goaltending by Darcy Kuemper in a bounce back year for the veteran netminder.
